Wires under dash HISSING

There are four wires uner the dash to the right, on my 2000 expedition. They are right behind the vent that blows air on the floor for the air condition. I had tugged on them and it sounded like air pressure was escaping, then it stopped. I started the car and the sound came back loud enough for me to hear over the engine. It doesnt stop until the car has been off for a couple minutes. If the car is off, i can wiggle the wires in to a position for it to stop. There is a harness and everything, so i figure they are electical wires, but why does it sound like there is pressure escaping?

They are not wires, they are vacuum lines so they do pass air; however it sounds like you might have a leak in one or more.

They provide the "muscle" to move all the little doors in the dash to the correct places when you change the a/c vent settings.....
