electrical heater problem ?

i have been having some voltage drops and thought it might be the altanator but i never loose full juice. i then notice a very slight burning smell from the heater control area. i was told that fords have a problem with thier heater switches. is this true ? could it be my problem ?

Out of the three ford trucks I have owned I cant say that they have ever given me any trouble whatsoever That does mean that your switch hasnt gone bad but I would first open up the dash board swtch and smell the switch for that burning scent you smell. the next step if the dashboard switch is ok is to open up the blower housing and check your selector resistors for any thing that may have fallen down your duct work and been thrown up onto the coils. they are about a 1/2" in size there are two of them the squirrel cage fan keeps them from burning up. so if somthing has gotten stuck on them it could give you that burning smell.
Good luck
