I own a 2002 crewcab psd lariat. I could use use a bit of help.
Whenever I go over a speed bump i hear a low tone kind of squeak. It it in the front. Im not sure if it is the shocks or the leafs. Or maybe even the cab mounts. Just wondering if anyone has had it sound and where to put some WD-40 etc.. Thanks Jeff
My front springs squeak like crazy on my 2002 - and it has done it almost since new. Try spraying wd-40 on your front springs - at the area where the isolator pad is between the 2 springs - and see if that helps. The front of the spring is harder to get to than the back - I spray mine from the inside if that makes sense? I have to spray mine on a weekly basis to keep it from squeaking! ALSO - on mine - sometimes it will take going over a couple bumps to stop the squeak - like it takes the movement to get the lube worked in.
no, that is the bushings that isolate the swaybar at the axle. they tend to go bad, and make a clunking noise when you hit a bump or corner hard. energysuspension part 4-5186
I fixed a bad frontend leaf spring squeak with a set of plastic replacement pads. The old ones didn't look totally bad but were worn through in the middle. Easy, cheap, quick fix.
had same problem it is the spring isolators they were round pads near rear of spring. Ford replaced them with square ones with some special grease. No more noise.. The total price parts and labor for extended warranty co was around 80. Think parts were $30. Looks like raise front end take weight off front springs pry leafs apart and replace isolators. Hope this helps. LPR
