Help Please!! 96 Ford Explorer

I have a 96 Ford Explorer 4.0l 6 4x4 that wont start. It ran fine earlier this morning without any problems until now. It cranks over but dies on idle if I dont rev the engine. The "Check Engine" light was on, I pulled the code and its a bad o2 sensor on Bank 1. Could this be the problem or is it something else. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

While there may be an issue with the O2 sensor it will not prevent the engine from running, and at cold startup the O2 sensors are not used. My first guess is that the IAC is acting up.

I agree with Vic. If you give it just a little bit of throttle, does it run OK. If so, it's probably the IAC. You can try cleaning it, but in my experience, I've usually ended up replacing it to make things work properly.
