have a 93 e150 van 5.0 auto. changing both themp sensors on aluminum intake manifold. one is for gauge and the other is for pcm. the sensor for the temp guage has one wire coming from it to the gauge and relies on ground to the intake for proper operation. the ect sensor has 2 wires coming from it.
to install these sensors and not have a leak the threads need to have some sort of sealing done to them. should i use teflon tape or ptfe pipe sealant?
or is there some sort of special ford sealant that should be used on the threads.
Go with the teflon tape, but only two wraps. The threads are imperfect, that's why they need to be sealed. Because of this imperfection, high spots of the thread will displace the teflon and make a metal to metal contact that will provide the ground path.
