need help changing oxygen sensor

How hard is it to remove an o2 sensor? I bought the special wrench, i started the engine to heat it up, i used my torch to heat it up, sprayed with penetrating oil, used a breaker bar , open & box end of a wrench and then tried a pipe wrench. I can only get a couple of turns then it locks up tight. Now that the o2 sensors is all dinged up don't know what to try next. At least the truck is still running, don't think i damaged the sensor. Anybody have any idea's? May have to take into my mechanic.
thanks
george

The first time I removed my O2 sensors was very frustating too. You don't want to break the thing, get it halfway off and get stuck, and you know you're gonna need to drive the truck no matter what happens. Looks like you're doing all the right things. Spray liberally with WD40, let it soak, try to loosen, if it moves spray some more, tighten/loosen to work the lube in, repeat. Heating sometimes works but since both the sensor and the pipe it's in are getting hot they are both expanding. You have to hope they expand/contract at different rates and catch it at the right time. Keep at it, little by little, and you will get it off. The new sensor will have anti-seize on the threads but I always add more. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CONTAMINATE THE SENSOR WITH ANYTHING. They are fussy about that. When you are all done disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to clear the PCM of "learned" values. Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Try using PB Blaster instead of WD40. It's much better. Each time you back it off a thread or two, spray it again and let it soak for at least a couple of hours. It'll come.... As vicv said.. make sure you don't get anything on the new sensor.
