In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Carissa , They are Numerous threads on this forum already that have a wealth of information about swaps.
Scroll through the posts !
Because you have an FE and what to go to a 385 series engine.
This swap is more involved and without a donor truck will be more expensive for one thing.

78-Buick LeSabre 403 4V
84 Volvo DL Wagon
I started to do this and gave up because the FE can be built to give all the power you want.
I started out buying a 429/460 bell housing for the NP435 4 speed tranny then checked headers, Hooker makes header just for this but they want big $$$ for them. the actual mounts for the motor could be made by a welding shop or bought from L&L.
Before you get into this, I'd consider building up the FE as you can get into the 410/422 range for not too much money. Compared to the 429, the HP and torque could be very simular.
The bench seat is easy, any bench seat will up to 96, even the ones with the arm rest in the center. You have to use you original adjusting rails and bolt the new seat to that.
