1980 F100 update....
1) Got the idle issue more or less taken care of. I think the Forum was right, and as soon as I can have enough warm weather to work with the fast idle, I'll fiddle with it. For now, I'll let 'er warm up before I light out. I got 'er so she runs fine when warmed up.
2) Got my vent window in. All that holds the thing in is 2 screws and one bolt. Got the good one out of an 83 Bronco at a JY hereabouts for $30. I had them pull it so I could see how to put in my new one.
3) Figured out the heater/turn signal issue. There's a short in the ignition switch, which I was going to replace with a new one anyway as the key sticks in the one in the truck something fierce. For now, I just wiggle the ignition tumbler in the column and that gets the turn signals and heater going fine.
4) The trans doesn't seem to want to kick down at highway speeds (i.e. 30+ mph). Doesn't seem to slip, just won't kick down. I am going to look into the kickdown linkage adjustment next time it isn't cold out.
5) When I got a new tire today, I noticed a serious groove in the brake rotor on the passenger side.. Plenty of meat on the pad, it appears as though the last time brakes were put on the truck it needed rotors and somebody was too cheap to replace them. Stops pretty good for now, I'll get me a couple rotors and replace them after the brakes wear out. I don't drive the truck enough to just up and replace them now.
