I have a 1998 explorer with eatc. When i try to do the self test (hold floor and off at the same time then within two seconds press auto) it does nothing. Is this not the right test for my vehicle?
Thanks Ill check those. I looked in the owners manual but didn't realize it didn't do all of those. The problem is Im trying to run down the blend door issue. Ours will not blow cold air went set on VENT only hot. I checked my actuator motor and it doesn't move so Im trying to make sure before I replace it.
Well, I thought i might be able to find some info that would help you with this, but did'nt have much luck.
This link-www.coolcats.net/tech/troubleshooting/atc.html- is for the climate control on a 97 Cougar & might be helpful if yours works the same.
I see it has a different method for putting the system in self test mode that you might want to try. If it works & you get a code 5 the blend door actuator is the problem.
Or maybe the system just needed to be "rebooted" & disconnecting the battery took care of it.
It would sure be handy if you could take a look at the pinpoint tests in the Ford factory shop manual
