just to let everyone know i tried the STP in my truck. BIG MISTAKE
the presure did come up a bit about 5 psi all around which i though was good. but after running it for 2 weeks all of a sudden my motor started pouring out smoke on startup. not just a little mind u alot!
the other thing is it used about 1 quart of oil for every tank of gas
before not to bad for almost 200,000 miles but now ive been putting in 2 quarts every tank. just my experiance recently hope no one else blows there top end by using this crap!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oil pressure is not read pre filter on any Ford engine I am aware of. Isn't the sending unit mounted to the top rear of a 460 block? I have changed the oil in quite a few engines and close to all of them get higher oil pressure after replacing dirty oil and filter. I don't understand how you can experience lower oil pressure readings after an oil and filter change.
It might be that somehow an oil filter can become damaged internally and allow oil to flow better but unfiltered. Then installing a new one will cause a lower oil pressure than a free flowing damaged one.
First off get a mechanical gauge on it. and see what you realy have. Then if it still the same sounds like bearings. I had had a lot of gooffy readings because of cam bearings. Some times you can help it with an oil pump but I think thats a waste of time.If thats a high mileage motor its probably due for an overhaul.Me personaly I would run it till it developes a knock then due an overhaul (But DON'T Blow A Thourgh The Block).
