i wonder why ford doesn't spec the v10 in the excursion with the same power, torque and 5 spd auto like the super duty pickups it would all really help with the extra vehicle weight to have that put to the ground would probably do wonders for their sales for this suv with the extra towing capability and that extra gear should really help with mpg. i'd be willing to bet it would put excursion way ahead of the competition they already have everbody beat for interior room and comfort, with closer comparison of mpg's they would probably have to take their expedition off the assembly line would be hard to justify buying a smaller vehicle seeing how their is very little price difference between the 2.
businesses would probably have to put the compact parking at the back of the lot and start making the handicap size parking standard
the excursion is still using the old v10 2v. it never had a chance to see the 3v engine. the excursion is no longer made and all the workers have been laid off. end to a era.

Yeah an Excursion with the 3V V10, Torqshift 5-speed and 4.30s would be one nice drivetrain package.

The 5-speed probably wouldn't net it any more mileage since the "other" gear is a lower gear. 3 & 4 ratios on the 4R100 are the same as 4 & 5 on the Torqshift.
So the additional gear would allow the whole box to be taller -- if they could afford to re-gear it -- and just keep 1st low and program the trans to take off in 2nd. Plus you'd have a tow/haul shift mode and, with a decent blower, you'd have something.
