7-Pin trailer plug

I want to add the 7-pin trailer plug to my 2000 XLT 250. It has the factory 4-pin plug and the wires taped to the harness to add the 7-pin plug. I have seen the 7-pin plug with bracket in many auto stores. The thing I don't like about what I have seen so far is the bracket. It seems like very thin metal compared to factory brackets I have seen on other trucks. Picky but that is me.

Might check and see what Ford wants for the bracket if they sell it separate unless someone knows of another source for thicker brackets.

I've got the factory bracket on my 2004 and I don't think it's all that sturdy.

Ditto - The factory bracket is easily bent. I thought about having a local sheetmetal fabricator make me one out of thicker material if mine gets bent beyond repair. (Maybe w/ some support pcs welded in at the corners for strength)

So far mine's held up pretty good despite getting bent under a couple of times.

Yep. Factory one is thin and rusts fast.

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like the aftermarket is as good after-all.
