Have a small problem
Hi guys. I have a '03 Ranger I4 2.3. I love this truck. Lately I've been noticing that when the temperature gauge is 1/2 way up you start to hear a high pitch tone coming from the engine compartment. I cant figure out where it is coming from. It did this for a short time last spring but quit on its own. I think now it is here to stay. I am very technical retarded so your help is appreciated.

You can make a high tech/state of the art mechanics stethoscope out of a piece of garden hose. Hold one end to your ear & poke around with the other end until you zero in on the noise. Start at the IAC valve, which can sometimes be noisy. Be VERY careful around the moving parts.
If that does'nt find the noise, remove the serpentine belt & fire it up, is it still noisy? Dont run it more than a couple of minutes without the belt.
