Spark Plugs

I put Bosch Plat +4 in my 01 sport trac awhile back. I think however, that i will go back to motorcraft due to poor mileage, and the fact that the engine doesnt seem to have consistent power. Sometimes its like a rocket, and sometimes its a slug. Sounds like a turkey day project.

Yeah i saw all those AFTER i put them in, and decided at the time it was too much of a pain to change them. Now, i think its worth it. Im only getting 10mpg no matter how hard i try to improve it.

If you are talking about those 4 pronged jobbies, I shunned them immediately. Why have all those sharp edges siting inside your combustion chamber to help aid in pre-detonation/pinging? Any sharp edge getting hot and holding a heat load will cause pinging. Bosch is trying to market something here but apparently they know little about electricity. It will allways follow the path of least resistance. So on these 4 pronged plugs, one and only one will ever get the spark. The other 3 are sitting ther egetting hot and helping a pre-ignition scenario - bad news!

Everything I've read calls for double platinum Motorcraft. Haven't had any problems with them.

Hell no not the dealer. Autozone I paid about $2 a piece. I think I got Autolite last time - same difference.

I ran Bosch plats for a while, didn't like them. Ran poorly, low mileage. Went to Autolites and we're much better now. And Autolite wires too, Autozone or Advance Auto.

Went to advance and got autolite double plats, and 8mm wires for it. Told the guy about my bosch and said to bring them in, and they might actually give me credit for giving me bad advice on them; now thats some great service.

Changed plugs and wires today. Drove about the same, hopefully mileage will go up to where it should be. the platinum electrodes on the bosch's were almost not even on them when i pulled them out. That could be the problem.

After driving it a little more it doesnt feel like it has the same power as with the +4's, however its consistent power unlike the +4's. But, what im concerned about is the mileage.
