Would this cam work?
I was wondering if putting a cam with 280/290 duration and .516/.543 lift would hurt or require me to change anything else in the engine if installing it. The cam is Lunati's bracket master II, i was wondering if it was notorious for any problems or not. The engine it would be going in is a '73 (i think)stock 460. it will have headers soon so if that is a concern/requirement for it, I have it covered. Any info or comments on this would be greatly appricated.

I think the stock valve springs are good to .500 of lift, after that you need better springs. This cam sounds like it will work, but you didnt say for what you are using the truck for? general flogging, i.e. burnouts and field hopping, or daily driver, towing??

sorry it will be use mainly for daily driving but i am "power happy" so burn-outs will happen quite often and it will make it to a couple truck pulls to see how ***** it really has.

Try a smaller cam, like maybe one of the cams that Summit Racing or PAW offers. Soething in a Stage 2 maybe. For about $80 you get the cam and lifters. Even with a stock cam, and 2.75 gears, a properly running 460 will smoke the baloneys all day long. You dont want to "over cam" a motor. If you do, you wont like the way it runs. Something that you might like though is getting a shift kit installed in the tranny (if automatic) It makes the truck shift alot snappier and makes it seem like it has more power.
