1000 Watt Amp
What I was wondering, will it help if I put in another battery and link it to my battery I have now. I have enough extra space for my second battery where my stock intake used to be. Will my alternator be able to charge both of these batteries?
You probably can get by with just one battery but I would upgrade the alternator to a high output.Add up your load in watts devide by 12 (your voltage) and you have the amperage you need to generate to keep up.
As you ponder things, remember that the battery runs the vehicle and the alternator simply charges the battery(ies). Battery charge is maintained by the regulator. With that in mind, the battery(ies) can tolerate draws that exceed the alternator capacity; just not on a prolonged basis.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having a problem keeping it charged. The one thing i recommend is a Capacitor for your amplifier, That will keep the voltage spikes down. I would just upgrade what you have as your stuff wears out. When the alternator goes out get the one from ford that is specifically for the Ford Ranger Tremor. It has 130 amp alternotor as opposed to the 90 amp one all the others have. When the battery goes, you can upgrade to an optima. I wouldn't throw money around unless the parts fail.
