'64 Generator Terminals.

The '64 generator has two nut-fastening terminals next to each other on the generator body. One is the "ground" and the other the "field" terminal. Without out referring to the incoming wires from the regulator, how do you tell which one is which?

Take a volt tester and ground one lead to the body of the generator and then test your terminals. That will tell you which one is your ground. Hope this helps.

In case you do not have a meter. Looking from the front of the generator (pulley facing you) and the terminals on top. Ground is to the right. Meaning the one to the right reads zero ohms and the one to the left reads around .084 ohms. Check the manual for proper connection. there are other posts here about installing a new generator.

Thanks, berkad. That's the kind of shade-tree advice I was looking for. I'll check the other posts. Thanks.
