GP Wire Harness Meltdown
Checking GPs aover the weekend and when I disconnected the harness outside the covers I noticed that the right side(passenger) connectors were melted at the aft GP pin on both connectors. I believe this is very common but supposedly no one has a repair kit. Has anyone seen this and does anyone know of a fix?
Also, what are the good repair manuals for 96 PSD? The Haynes I have doesn't do it.
Yep, common problem now that many of these trucks/engines are 10+ years old, and the problem fix is as simple as going to Ford/International and picking up a new gasket and connectors!
When I put a new set of aftermarket injectors in my truck, while checking things over, I noticed that I also had a couple of burnt looking connectors to my glow plugs (connectors are set up for glow plugs & injectors) so I just replaced them, and all was well again.
Often a burnt connector will make our engines run terrible if it happens to be the connector to an injector, so while your rooting around looking for the problem, it can be an "under the valve cover" issue....just something to remember.

i got pics of everything there. part #'s, prices and where to buy it. if i got it at ih that because it was the cheapest place. if i bought it at the other place listed in there thats because it was cheaper there than ih.
and you can forget about buying any of these parts from ford....
rip offffffff.
those 4 plugs alone are 80.00 bucks at ford and it takes a ford part man to find them in the system. your average joe will say they dont exist. if i can help you more let me know. ryan
one last piece of advice
MAKE A DIAGRAM OF THE WIRES INTO EACH PLUG. REMOVE 1 WIRE FROM OLD PLUG AND PLUG IT INTO NEW PLUG. CONTINUE ON UNTIL ALL 5 WIRES ARE IN THERE. OBVIOUSLY REPAIRING WHATEVER WIRE YOU NEEDED TOO. IF YOU MIX THE WIRES UP IT WILL BE A VERRYYYYYYYYYYY BAD DAY FOR YOU.
you will probably need new vavle cover gaskets or maybe not, and under vavle cover wiring harnesses. its all listed good luck.
