Hi,
I have replaced that auto hubs with new warn manual locking hubs, and i just got hold of a manual warner 1354 tcase. I have been having trouble with my electric one, it keeps freezing up in the colder weather, has done me no good this winter what so ever. So i was wandering if i was gonna run into ne complications with this installation or is it more of a direct bolt up, minus the the holes in the carpet and body for the shifter to go thru. Thanks
Actually, i thought that there was a manual Tcase option on the ranger? But yeah, basically the only difference between the 2 is ones got a shift motor, and ones got a stick. You might even be able to use a plate/boot from an F150, or fab something up that will work. I"m guessing if your the type of person to go through this process, you should have no problem fabricating your own floor cut out for the new stick. Have fun!
Do the rangers have the metal plate you can remove (i'm sure they do, and i'm also sure theres a proper name for it, just cant think of it) just like the F150's? If they do just go and find a stick ranger, and transfer the plates over, otherwise, go get a dust boot from a honda or something, cut the hole to that size, and do it that way.
Yea thats one way...i havent really looked under there yet...ill have to look under there tomorrow and see if that plate is there and heck if it is then thats gonna make my job a whole lot easier
Yes, the Rangers have the metal plate. 4 bolts hold it on and you get at them from under the carpeting. I have done this swap on my Bronco II. It is a piece of cake. You will have a time trying to find the shifters and boots if you don't already have them. The ranger community over at TRS has just about snatched up everything available due to the fact Ford's shift motors hold up so well.
Depending on what year truck you have I may also be able to help you connect to the right wires so your dash indicator lights work, because once you unhook the big harness on the electric shift motor, you will have to hook up a new set of wires to make the lights work!
PM me or email me if you need anymore help!
Oh and yes, the Rangers had the manual T-case option up through 1997, and then it was gone for 5 years and came back for the 2002 FX4 Level II and now it is permantly N/A
