Speedometer
My speedo doesn't work at all, and i've been told to check the speedo cable, and that it should be near the bell housing. How do I remove this cable and how do I go about replacing it? It's a '72 F-250 4x2 with a T-18 trans.

Remove the screws that hold the instrument panel, pull it out as much as possible. Slip your hand behind the panel and you will feel a nerreled (sp) nut. Once you loosten it, the instrument panel should be free to be pulled out enought to see the speedo cable. you can pull out the inner cable leaving the guard in place. If both ends on the inner cable are square, the problem is either the speedo head or the transmission gear. If it is twisted off or broken, you will have to pull the gear from the trans to retrieve the broken end of the cable. This is an easy thing to do. Good luck. Billemc
