factory pickup???

I ordered a truck that is being built on the 28th....they say it won't be here until mid December. Does anyone know if I can just pick it up myself....at the factory?

You should be able to get with the dealer and talk to them and they will be able to setup arrangements for you to drive it off of the assembley line. That is what the dealer in my area told me, if I was ordering it to my spec's.. I am not sure where you are in relation to the plant. I know that mine was assembled in K.C., MO. I hope that this helps you.

that is ford policy. just like any other car maker. you must take delivery at a ford dealership. mark and ernie will tell you the same and they are both dealers.

I don't see how the factory would be able to process your registration anyway. Plus, isn't there a checklist that the dealer go trough when prepping the vehicle?

BMW offers European delivery for American customers vacationing abroad, but their pickups suck.

I can't pickup vehicles at Nissan's Canton, MS plant, and I work for the plant makes the frames for the Titan, Armada, and QX56. Like everyone else, I have to get the vehicles at the dealership.

I asked if I could pickup my '02 Tbird at the factory and the answer was no. It has to go to the dealer first.

On a side note - I actually was on the production line when it was being assembled in Wixom, MI. They took me on a tour of the plant and even allowed me to take pics of my car and other parts of the line. That was quite an experience.

It would be nice to not to pay the $850 for delivery. But with insurance reasons and the unions, I think self pick up is out of the question.

Can't you pick up a new Corvette at the factory? Or do they "deliver it" to the museum next door for delivery? I thought I saw that on Motor Trend or some other auto show.

"Museum Delivery" is a popular- and highly recomended Corvette option. The car is still shipped a few hundred yards from the plant to the museum on a convoy truck and yes, you pay the same freight as everyone else.
