the spout for your truck is a little square grey plastic piece that is connected into the wiring harness that goes to your distributor. It is within maybe 5 inches from the distributor. You pull it out then set your timing. It acts as a switch and allows the computer to adjust the timing.
depending on year. some were near the dizzy while others were on the fender driver side. go to the control panel and fill out your signature with info on your rig and any mods you have done. this way we know what you have
The SPOUT connector is the grey plug. SPOUT is an abbreviation for SPark OUTput signal. The signal controls the spark timing advance/retard as needed. The EEC computer generates this signal. In order to set the base timing you need to interrupt this signal from the computer so that the timing is not affected by the signal. Its like removing the vacuum advance hose from an old distributor and plugging the hose while you set the timing on an older vehicle. The effect is the same. there is noe change in the spark timing from the computer with the SPOUT connector removed just as there is no change in spark timing due to changes in vacuum when the advacne hose is removed from an older distributor.
