hello,
i found a 1978 F-150 4X4 for a 1000.00, i think it has 33" tires(new), ok paint job, no rust, 3" lift, 400 CID, 4spd. it needs a steering box, new knuckes in the two axel shafts for the four wheel drive, and a new rear main seal. my question is: is this truck worth a thousand dallars in the southwest wisconson area? any info would be appreciated. it runs very good, dosen't puff the blue. i also figured that the tires and rims are probbly worth 500.00, being they have under 500 miles on them. i know this person very well, the truck has been taken care of.
Down here in Ark a running truck goes for $500,most "decent" old 4x4s $1500 unless its deer season then 4x4 prices go thru the roof.Of course really nice trucks bring more cash.Sounds like a decent deal to me.
In January I bought a 78 F150 4x4 with a 460, 33" tires, 3" lift, 9" rear end and Detroit lockers up front for $1000 in the Sheboygan/Manitowoc area. The engine seems to be fine except for low compression in 1 cyl., and an oil leak or two. The body has some rust, but I got a spare cab as part of the deal. From what I've heard around here, any running 4x4 is worth at least $800. Even more if it has some off-road parts like tires, lifts, etc... I'd say a grand is a good price.
