Not sure, I think you may be able to get to it throu the wheel well. You may need to take off the wheel and the rubber flap. I needed to do this on a blazer.
You should NOT need to remove the wheel well, I did that once, then realised ALL too late that right by the front axle, is the rubber flap to access them through. there is one plug that I think is impossible to reach due to the steering column being in the way. I believe you have to tilt the engine to reach that one.
ive changed many, many of these and never had to do anything with the steering. i just put the sparkplug socket on it, then turned it with a wrench. not impossible.
