np435 pto?
I have a small plate on the side of my np435 trans someone told me it might be for a pto. for one thing what is a pto and what does it do and another thing is that what that plate really for?

The Power Take Off (PTO) is a gearbox mounted in place of the plate to provide a auxiliary power source for a hydraulic pump or a gear to run a winch or anything else you can dream up that needs engine power. You just remove the plate and bolt on the PTO gear box. Be sure to have a pan ready to catch the grease cause its all gonna run out when you pull that plate and don't forget to refill it after you get the gearbox bolted on. They are usually found on bigger trucks but the NP435 is used from the F-100 to the F-600 or larger so they all got the same tramsmission.
