Do you mean the one that is rivetted to the frame (spring hanger), or the shackle bars that swing on each side of the springs? None of these should be kinda loose. The spring hanger has replacable bushings inside. Check for wear on the shackle bars and the shackle bolts. The shackles should swing without and much slop. You may be able to tighten the nut on the end of the shackle bolt to get rid of some play. I would suggest getting a 'pin and bushing kit' while you have it that far apart. This will replace all the commonly worn bushings and shackle bolts. ...Terry

Check with your local spring and suspension places. I was able to find all the bushings and pins locally for a reasonable price, alot cheaper than what I've seen advertised in the restoration catalogs.
