I have a 460 running a 1997 MAF computer and the truck kills every time I put it in gear, unless I wait 15 sevonds. Then everything is fine. Does not seem to matter if the engine is hot or cold. This is very repeatable. I have run this time test 20-30 times.
It seems like a vacuum leak but after 15 seconds it does not kill. I tried looking for vacuum leaks by plugging the hoses and listening with a hose. No luck.
One way to find a vacuum leak, use throttle body cleaner, an spray around the intake , throttle body, and vacuum connectors and will spraying observe the idle of engine. If the engine idle changes while spraying cleaner. Then you have isolated the leak.
You can also find a vacuum leak with a small propane bottle connected to a hose and set the regulator to low. Caution not setting your engine on fire and is the only set back and will need a fire extinguiser near by for safety purposes.
