[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Mar-02 AT 00:07 AM (EST)]I am wanting to upgrade to better lighting and better looks as well as the newer design of H4 bulbs.
Several companies offer these conversion kits, like Bosch, Hella, APC and Toucan. Apc and Toucan both offer kits that have diamond lenses (like jewel effect new superduty) that are completely clear, like on many of todays cars.
My question is, how will these clear lenses look on my '78?
I thought that I would like to give the old truck a new look up front, but don't want it to look gaudy!
I will hopefully also be doing the wiring upgrade in the tech section.
Matt,
I have been looking at doing the same thing. I think that if you have a clean front end, shinny surround and good chrome on the headlight surrounds and center grill, or a fresh coat of paint on them, it would look really sharp. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
just posted the answer above in another post. Check ebay for h4 conversions to get the best price. I paid $35 for the rectangle lights on my 79 and it included bulbs.

Check [link:www.4apc.net/home.htm|APC] Click products, replacement headlights.
Check [link:www.toucanindustries.com|Toucan Industries] Click products, select headlight conversions.
Bosch and Hella make em too, but not in diamond style.
[link:www.godfathercustoms.com|Godfather Customs] has both for sale I think.
I just ordered the Toucan Diamond H4 kit from local [link:www.performanceimprovements.com|Speed shop], doesn't come with bulbs. Its called a kit, you'd think that they'd be included! Should be in tomorrow!
Got Toucan bulbs 60/55w to go with em. I paid $100 CAN.
Picked up the toucan conversion lenses (070200) and they look great. They do have a 'cruising bulb' to the outside of the bulb (blue) inside the housing used to turn the glow blue, which I didn't expect or want, but I can just pull it out, or replace with a clear 194 bulb to make it look like its not there. Or I could hook it up to my turn signals and use it that way.
It was 10 bucks cheaper than the APC kit, so I'm happy.
