Just bought a 2000 XLT F250. It has a DesignTech remote start without remote entry. Truck doesn't have factory remote entry. Want to add remote entry and considering options.
Found a few silver Ford remote entry/start systems on E-bay. Wondering how well the Ford kit works for distance or should I consider a third party unit. When
I checked out some Ford sites on the silver kit and they only list it for 2001 and up. Wonder if it will not work on my 2000?

2001(ish) is when Ford switched from the previous supplier of alarms (System 1, 2,3,...6) to the PowerCode made by CodeAlarm (Division of Audiovox) and introduced the Gold, Silver, and Bronze systems. Since the SuperDuty's are the same from 1999-2004, the Silver systems in question should work fine. As far as distance, I've never measured (I have a Ford Gold system from E-Bay).
