I got the same thing, rebuilt the whole motor, .030 bore, 260h cam, Hedman Headers, Wieand Action Plus, Holley Truck Avenger, K&N open air cleaner. Runs great and real strong!! Love those old Crew Cabs, only trucks that can be parked in a parking lot, and have people come up and strike up conversations about them!! I'll probably be putting a plow on next year. Getting to old (lazy?) to shovel the drive. Only thing with these trucks, they haven't figured out how to pass a gas station yet! 10mpg at all times, unless the travel trailer is hooked up, then 5-7.

I would love to see pics of your crew cab. I look forword to working on this truck. It runs great stock so i dont think ill do to many big changes. I plan on-headers duals, msd ign, lift kit of course and maybe a Edelbrock intake and 650 carb with electric choke. Im sure when i start getting in to it i wont be able to stop from lumping up the cam. whats left.

I love the 70's body style even more in crew cab. I had a 77.5 F-250 4x4 4Spd. that came with the 351M (Man I miss my old truck). The only trouble with the 400/M is it can't breath very well. It is a good engine but it cost way too much to make HP out of it. I did the basics headers intake carb distrib and it still could not get up and go with no better mpg. I then picked up a 1973 Town car with a 460 that ran good. I pulled the 460 checked it painted it FORD Blue and installed it. The install is very basic I had a friend weld up some mounts for the Alt added a set of Hooker Headers and man what a difference it pulled like the M could only dream and got about the same mpg.
My vote is if your 400/M is running good leave it alone don't waste money on mods save your cash and start planning a 460 install you won't regret it.
