I think I srewed up!!! HELP!!! Carb Question
1977 F250, 460/C4
This is going to be a stretch, I know, but I don't know what to do.
Started rebuilding my carb (Motorcraft 4350), a very ambitous project for me as I have not done it before. I am going step-by-step through the Ford service manual. While disassembling the air horn I got to a step where It said to "depress the metering rod hanger fully and measure the gap between the metering rod hanger and the vacuum cylinder" and then "record this measurement for use in reassembly." Well, I took the measurement then began taking the metering rod assembly apart and realized that the measurement I took was incorrect (24/32nds was what I came up with) because I did not depress the hanger all the way.
I have no idea what the gap should be. Why don't they just list the spec on the gap? Does anyone out there know what the gap should be? Maybe someone has the gap written down from a rebuild they did? Any suggestions on what to do?
Extremely grateful,
Doug
