Whats the trick???
my 76 has 2 retractors. a plastic one at the bottom and a metal one at the shoulder. I haven't attempted to remove them yet, but I will have to when I change the seatbelts to work with an interior re-do. I guess you could always just pull it till it broke off

I just did this on my 78. There was a pop-rivit on the back that I had to drill out. They didn't make it easy to disassemble, that's for sure.
