well its still in the shop but the good thing is the dealer told ford that replacing the heads again was not going to correct the problem because there is corrosion in the motor. A ford rep came out and inspected the motor and they have decided to replace the motor. It is supposed to be done any day now.
Good luck with it! I hope you no longer have any problems.
Well it was in the shop for almost 2 months but I finally got the truck back. They replaced the motor, catalytic converters and the y pipe. So far motor seems to be running fine. I checked fluids when I got home and the transmission was 2 qts. low. I imediately called the service manager and he said they did not remove the transmission but my guess is some fluid was lost. I do not think it will cause any problems thought. The service manage also told me that if there are any problems with the motor to call Ford and they will come right out and get the truck and deliver me one to use.
That's good to hear. The tranny fluid probably seeped put of the front seal while the engine was out. No biggy, I'm sure they reseated the converter when installing the engine or it wouldn't pull. It's good that your dealer went to bat for you and got the whole longblock. That's what customer service is all ablout.
The tranny fluid can also run out the dipstick hole. The dipstick tube needs to come out if you R&R the engine or RH head. Usually the level in the trans is higher than the dip stick hole.
Sure sounds like a real pain to have to deal with techs at this shop that don't pay attention to things like this. I can't imagine being a tech and doing such crappy work. That must not be very satisfying.
