Just wanted to express my issue with purchasing new tires for my 02 Explorer; Would like to purschase alittle taller & wider michelin All terrian tire with atleast 60K mile warranty; but local Wally world which provides the best road hazard & roatation plan (in my area) won't put nothing on the vehicle except; 235/70/16. I'm sure its all about the roll over issue; But I would believe FORD would of allow a little variety in the 16 series tire range; if my vehicle came with a 15 series rim; I would'nt have a problem.
Tire Rack did the same thing to me when I called to order a set of tires for my Cobra R wheels on the X. They told me all they could sell me was the oringinal manf. size. Since the Cobra R's are 17", that didn't work. I just had to shop around the local shops and see who would do it and give the road hazard. I do know of a few places that will sell you what you want, but you would have to order the tires then have them put on somewhere (which negates the road hazard).
Tire Rack has some good prices on some of their stuff. All you really have to do is give them a different vehicle and you can get what you want, but for some reason they did not like going from a 15" OEM size to selling me a 17".
I hadn't thought about Sears. They will sell you what you need also.
thanks for all the replies; Havn't thought about Sears; in reference of putting any size on I want within reason; I did compare prices on the exact size michelin tire from Sears ; SAMs club & Wally world; all where different; but provide a road hazard warranty.
Got a question on BridgeStone Dueller's; Have you all had good mileage or should I say (bang for your buck) with them? My Explorer came with michelin's and I got 62k and they still show about 1/4 thread life left. I haven't been too discipline in rotating and maintaining proper air in them and still they seem to last along time.
