I am in need major help with removing the oil pan of my 1996 ford ranger [2X4 - manual]. With some help I figured out that my oil pump was shot. I purchased a new one, however, removing the oil pan to replace the pump is a major pain. I have reached as far as lifting the motor and unbolting the pan. But I still can't get the clearance needed to pull the pan out. Any help with an easier route will be helpful.
just a suggestion, unbolt the drive shaft and remove it, place a jack under the trans and remove the crossmember, undo you motor mounts from the frame, let down on the jack so the trans dips in the rear and lift up on the engine. care and not to break and lines, or wires, and not to shove the engine into the fire wall. this should give you clearence to remove the pan.
