Is there a "play with the ignition key on/off" sort of method for defeating the dome light/cargo bay light delay of 25 seconds ? I lock the truck up and get ready to walk away and there's all my stuff on the crew seats (laptop, tools, etc) well illuminated for any passerby to check out. I want the lights to go on when I open the door and off when I close it. Truck is 99 F250 super duty V10.
Not sure how to do that, but maybe what I did will help.
I wanted to open the door without the light going on and also to be able to play the radio with the door open without the chime. There is a wire which tells the computer that the door is open. I don't think it is a straight ground connection to the lights like years ago, but if you put a switch in it, the lights won't go on when the door is open. They do go on with the dash switch and if the passenger door is open.
Anyway, that works for me. I think the wire was blue with white stripe, but I'm going from memory and yours might be different anyway.
Actually, as I think about it, I used a DPST switch because turning off the ignition key also triggers the light and I had to break that connection also. It sounds like maybe that's what is happening on yours. If so, maybe this is "beyond the scope" of a short post.
