Problems after 05E15 Recall

Took the truck in for the 05E15 Recall .
The truck would surge once in a while if I was in high gear and rolled on the throttle to the point just before the truck would downshift .
It would cough black smoke on every surge .
After the recall it was alot worst ( found out 15 minutes after getting the truck back). If I mash the throttle the truck would downshift and I have no problems .
The problem was the EGR Valve was stuck open .
This is just a FYI ..oh and I was stock when all of this was happening

Yeah, those pesty ol egr valves. Just curious, do you use diesel treatment? I have been told that treatments like Diesel Kleen, Standine, etc, will decrease carbon which reduces the chances of sticking egr's and such. I started using diesel kleen about the same time I received the latest flash Ford installed and haven't had any egr problems since.

I wouldn't think the difference would be from just 3 fill ups. Which Ford dealer do you use in NorNevada? I have had good luck at Capital Ford in Carson C.

Just an FYI:

I have had all the recalls done plus a new EGR Valve. No appreciative gain or loss in power, mileage, turbo lag, etc. After disabling the EGR Valve...again... I have gained power, have almost zero turbo lag, and gained approx. 1.2 MPG.

I am not introducing regurgitated trash to my system and have had virtually no engine warranty issues outside of the recalls after 24,000+ miles.

Talking

I had the 5E15 recall last week and no problems. Truck feels like it has more pep on the take off. MPG is about the same as before (after only one tank). My truck is a 2004 4x4 CCSWB King Ranch (build date 03/26/04) with 35K miles and stock, never been to the shop except for recalls. I use Stanadyne with every tank. This was my truck's first reflash. So far so good.
Still grinning everytime I mash the gas and feel that power.

That's the dealer I go to and have had no problems with their Sales and Service Dept . I will deal with the guys in Reno for any parts though .

Does your check engine light come on with the EGR disconnected ?

The only problems I have with the truck was the surging and the famous puking coolant ,but I guess the extra HP doesn't help

No. Throws EGR related codes on the scanner though.

OK now I have a BIG problem .
Today the truck seems to not be running on all cylinders and it's pouring out white smoke . It's so thick ......you get the picture ...
Will be calling the dealer right after I'm done typing .
I'll keep everyone updated on this .
