1995 5.8 VIN#s

There are two vin. #s for a 1995 5.8 One is H the other is R. What is the H 5.8 and whay is the R 5.8. and can the engines be interchanged with each other. Will the ECM from a 1995 5.0 work with a 5.8?

I believe the H is an HO motor and the R is a Lightning motor.

A 5.0 PCM will run both, but aftermarket tuning is recommended, with that PCM, because of the added cubes.

"H" is for the std 5.8 ( not HO) "R" was for the Lightning.

H is for standard 5.8. I was in the middle of researching HO cam casting #'s when I typed this.

It'll run and drive without a chip and that PCM. Finding a 5.8 PCM of a similar year should not be too terribly hard though and would be a better option.
