That would be neat to have a truck like your dads. What about those rails on the box? I bet your not going to reproduce those. They look like their made out of 2" gas pipe.

that was a horse rack that my uncle had made. it was in the truck when we got it from him.it was very strong because he had road it over on a exit ramp .all four fender's were flat and the roof also. we took all the fender's off and fix them and fixed the roof.it was alot of fun with my dad. he is gone now and my truck is bringing back them memories.
These pictures were taken circa 1984. My father-in-law had a '51 Panel. It was an ex-Army truck. He had it painted orange on the outside and kept the olive drab on the inside. He also put Mustang taillights on it and other marker lights in different areas of the Panel body. Obviously, the Cragars and full function side pipes followed.
This is him with his youngest son...
Here it is by itself...
My wife remembers the truck. That is what inspired us to buy another '51 Panel for him. He had to sell the truck in the late '80s to help support the family. Times were rough for them and he did what he had to do.
Soon after we bought the '51 for him (from Arkansas), I found an ad in the local paper of another '51 Panel being sold a few minutes away from us. I phone up the owner and came to find that he had my father-in-laws original Panel. This guy had purchased it from the person to whom my father-in-law had sold his Panel originally.
We, of course, went to check it out. Here it is...
Since then it has been modified slightly. New FMX tranny, repaint, crashed in the right front, gas tank in the rear, new brake booster, etc. However, it still had the Mustaing taillights, marker lights in the same areas of the body, same seats, a small fan in the back (Panel trucks get really hot in the summer time), and remnants of the original orange paint underneath the hood trim.
The current owner is asking $6k. It's still for sale. He's had it on the market for at least a year now. I'd give him $3k for it, maybe.
