engine build date

I found a 6.0L turbo diesel for a project I am working on. It is not in a vehicle and I would like to know when it was built. are there any #'s or identifiers that would tell the build date? The guy tells me the engine is either an 04 or 05, he thinks.

If you look on the driver's side valve cover area (top), there should be a label showing where the engine was manufactured. On this label there will be a date that represents the build date. Mine reads 170705 meaning 17 Jul 2005.
