heater core

Hi everyone. Have a question for you that maybe you can help me. what is the proces to replace a heater core in my 97 ford f150 truck. 4.6 liter engine, automatic, and aird cond. One shop said it would cost around $800. to replace it. Think this is way to high, but wanted to find out from everyone else first. any info on this would surely be appreciated. thanks everyone

To me that sounds a little high compared to some other numbers that I have heard. Its not hard to replace, took my brother in law and I 8 hours to replace the core on my 97. The whole dash has to come out, not hard work but very tedious and painstaking taking everything apart and trying to put it back togather just right. Here is a link that gives you a step by step idea of what is required and some tips on making it easier. Also try doing a search in this forum and see what you come up with. Good Luck.
