I don't know if it's just me, or what. I see this thing on tv commercials. Now, everybody knows the Jeep Cherokee was discontinued a few years ago. But now, it looks like DCX has brought it back, slightly modified. Longer, different front end, basically, a better built, better looking Cherokee.
But tv just doesn't do it justice. Anybody seen one of these yet? Am I way off?
It looks like a Cherokee, alright. Personally, I think the Cherokee looked a little better, especially the grille and headlights. Basically, though, it is a bigger Grand Cherokee underneath.
BTW, am I the only one who thinks its a bit odd Jeep makes a Grand Cherokee without making a Cherokee?
I was just looking at one on the dealer's lot (after hours, of course). The basic model with the 6cyl is $29K, while the Limited, loaded with toys and a Hemi is $44K. Motor Trend said, with the Hemi, it performed well in their tests. But they called it "the box the Grand Cherokee shipped in". Interestingly enough, the 6cyl only gets 1 MPG better than the Hemi.
I think they are pricey too, but according to Motor Trend, Jeep thinks of the Commander as an alternative to the Range Rover and the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Jeep is quite a bit less than those rides.
