possibly the fuel filter is beginning to clog up, it doesnt have the pressure to get by the filter at idle or light accel but does at hard accel....

Perhaps the fuel pump.....

What year truck, carb or EFI?

more info please......

Then why'd you ask?

Most likely I doubt it though, if the choke werent opening then it would be starved for air, and you would get light accel only, and heavy throttle would choke it out.

is it warm or cold when this happens?

If it was the pump or the fuel filter the problem would be even worse under hard acceleration. If it was colder today than any day before, it sure could be the choke. On hard acceleration the is machanical linkage to pull the choke off, plus vacuum. On light accelleration it doest happen. Could be an ignition problem too. Need more info to really figure out what is happening.

Ive had it happen to me just like he described on our 82, and it was the fuel filter.

More info is definitely needed though, I agree

EFI's work different than carbs do.
