Ok guys it has been a while since I have posted up, since I traded my older Ranger in on an 01' 4x Edge with some low miles I have had zero problems. Here is what I havem and what I have done so far, and what I am thinking of doing next. I would like some suggestions or input on the performance mods I want to do, please let me know what you think of if anyone has done this tell me how it worked out for you.
I have an 01' Regular Cab Edge 4x. I replaced the 16" wheels with 15x8's and for rubber I am running BFG 31x10.50x15 Mud TA's & a new set of Rancho RS5000 shocks. I replaced the factory muffler and tail pipe section with a flow master mufler and had the muffler shop guy rout the tail pipe just a little farther to the outside wich gave me clearence for a full sized spare as well. For what it's worth I also have a Raven Camper top as well. Ok thats what I have done over the last year since I bought this truck.
I am thinking my next mod will that K & N air intake kit, the one that replaces your air intake tube, has the cone filter, and the two heat shields that seal to the hood. I figure this mod is a no brainer.
Here is where I have questions - I want to get a chip,m actually what I want is a programmer, but I can't seem to find one for the 3.0. What have some of you guys done, what brands of chips have some of you used, and have any of you been able to get a programmer for your 3.0?
Also what else have you done performance wise, is there any suggestions as far as the crappy soft shifting transmission...can that be taken care of with a programmer or is it a seperate fix.....has anyone done the transmission kit that plugs in to the tranny wire harness????
Ok guys I will check that out as well. I sent an email to the other manufaturer suggested and am waiting for a reply on what they think would be the best. Hey do these chips also take care of the soft shifting or is there another chip for that. I have seen a kit that plugs into the transmission wire harness that supposedly works like a shift kit, to make the shifting more firm, not soft like it is stock. Any of you guys have any experience with that? When I get some info back from the chip guys I will post what they tell me -
