Went to put the emergency brake on yesterday, heard this loud POW followed by the sounds of parts hitting the driveway and the pedal goes to the floor! The emergency brake cable snapped!! It's the cable from the pedal to just under the driver's door where is joins some kind of connector and splits into two cables. I got a very good feeling what caused this...the body lift. It seems that it snapped right where is comes out of the body underneath. So, how hard is it to replace that cable and what can I do to prevent the new one from meeting the same demise?
the first thing is what year is your bronco. the second is what section if the brake cable. i just did my 93 bronco.
my 93 has 3 diferent cacle sections and no adjustment. the trick is to push the emergency break pedal all the way down, release the spring within the pedal and connect the cable while you are pulling on the cable. I hope that makes sence.

I have a 90 bronco( not sure if your is the same) and replaced all my cables. I have a 2" body lift and have no problems with tension. There is an adjustment you can get 4 extra inches. There is the screw (in the pic) just back it off until it's where you need it. It wasn't hard to do at all.-Bobhttp://
Yep...that's the same setup mine has. I haven't even looked yet to see what all it takes to replace it. In fact, I need to call the dealer now to get the cable. Thanks for the info!
Whoah...just called 2 local Ford dealers and that front cable for a 1987 is discontinued. The 2 rear cables are the same for several years apparently but not the front. Also called around to parts stores and they all have to special order it but at least they can get it!
