Pretty much a novice at this but looking to save $ replacing my O2 sensors. Had error codes PO 135 (Bank 1, Sensor 1) and PO 155 (Bank 2 Sensor 1). Got the bank/sensor info from obd-code.com. Does anyone have a diagram/instructions to which is which and how to replace. It's probably been posted before, but couldn't find it. Thanks.
Your probably running the search wrong based on what you said above. Just as an FYI the codes are read as P0(ZERO)XXX, so yours are P0135 and P0155.
Ok, now on to what you asked. Bank 1 is the passenger side, Bank 2 drivers side. Sensor 1 are the front sensors near the manifolds. Some like to get under the truck and remove them with hand tools. I find this a bit difficult as there is not alot of room to move tools. I found it easier to remove the front wheels and access each sensor through the wheel wells. Just remember to unplug the wiring harness on each first. Also, get FoMoCo sensors or the SPECIFIC Bosch sensors for the front.
Thanks. That helps. I crawled under it and saw the wire for Bank 2/Sensor 1 burned through from the exhaust. It's a little tight down there. The part the screws into the exhaust looks OK to take out, but the wire end looks like it would be easier from the side. I'll try removing the tire to get to it. I read somewhere that it will be screwed in there fairly tight and you may remove it when the truck is warm (being careful not to burn your self). Does that make sense? Thanks.
I would remove it when its cold / cool. They are not that bad to remove, you can even get a special socket from the autoparts store for their removal. I have always just used an open end wrench and never had a problem removing them.
