first I would like to say this is a pretty cool page.
but also I am looking for stake pockets for my 50 f3, I think the bed that it has is actually a older bed, I was told that the f3's used beds left over from the previous style, either way the ones I need are for the raised side pannel and the cool curvy pockets, not the newer square tube ones. I have one for a f1, if anyone is interested (thought they may be the same but they are not) I know those are kinda hard to find also. if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them, thanks
M.
First off, welcome to the site, as you already mentioned this is a good place to find out stuff about these old trucks.
Now for your question, no one that I know of makes stake pockets for the 48-52 8ft F-2 and F-3 express boxes. I know, because I have been looking for a while now for my 52 F-3. Basically you will need to either find a donor truck bed (not easy), rebuild your current ones, or make new ones yourself.
I'll be attempting to do the latter over my Christmas break. I've been doing my homework and have a few ideas on how to make a hardwood form and hammer out a set. Time will tell

Yeah, it is a pain, right now there really isn't anyone making sheetmetal parts for the bigger trucks F-2 to F-8. Sometimes parts from the F-1's can be used, but not without fabrication/modification.
I also tried to use a F-1 stake pocket, however, as you discovered, its about 3/4 the size of the larger, I will admit I was quite annoyed. My hope is that with more of the bigger trucks becoming more popular, it may get the aftermarket people to make parts for us.
The stake pockets on my f1 are pretty rough. I've been thinking of a way to fabricate them also because the look is so much better than the plain square ones.
Jon, I was thinking maybe taking some tubing and perhaps tryin to match the quasi "S" shaped curves with a roller and then cut the back part of it off. Right now its just thinking and I won't get serious abut it til next year or so.
Welcome to the group, MAF. Glad to see another big truck being saved. I see that you're in Ohio, but FWIW there's an Ebay listing in Kansas for a whole F2/F3 express bed with fenders. It's a guy with an Ebay store and he wants $200 for it. It seems pretty decent. I'll have to admit that I've gone farther to gather spares for my F-3. The fenders alone are worth more than that. It's Ebay #4579031026. Hope it helps. Stu
I have one oem pocket for your truck!!! my father bought the thing thinking it was the same as a f3 it is like new still has a tag, I'll find out what he wants for it , its only one but hey 1 is better than none.
mike
I don't know of stake pockets available for F2/3 either, but you can buy F1's from the guy that makes them and supplies them to the other vendors. You might even call and ask them about parts for larger trucks. If enough guys ask............
that bed is in better shape than the one I am trying to save, its definatly worth thinking about, that is a long trip though. thanks. its funny I thought I was the only weird person out there with a heavy duty project truck!
You'll find alot of guys around here with the larger trucks.
How about setting up a gallery of your truck so that we all have something to drool over? Give us some more info on your project, we just loe to know what the other guy is doing.
Nothing weird about it, man. You'll find, though, that this won't be the only time you'll need to be creative to find spares. Just about everything is being repop'd for the little trucks, but not much for the big ones. Stu
Im doing it kinda old school, frame off, we are painting it almost as we speak. viper red. I used the original engine (8BA) but used a merc crank, offy heads iski cam, custom headers, like I said kinda old school. we relieved and decked the block. shaved the heads., stainless valves and hardened seats, 2 dueses, and a MSD ingn, that is really the only "new technolgy" oh and we just painted the rims and mounted up the tires, thick white walls. needless to say I started when I was 13... now 24 and its just now getting paint. the only part that I stinkin need is those pockets/new bed. if it wasn't for that it would be done in a month or so. its still at my dads house, I'll get some pictures posted, its kinda funny all that work and i dont have any pictures here.
it does, when we started it up the first time I about wet myself, I had never heard anything like it,(I had never heard a build flat head) granted it is still only putting out maybe 200 horse if I am lucky, but it sounds much meaner. I'm going to bed, its been great chatting. thanks for the info
