I am new to diesels and I will be taking my family on the first road trip in our new X this Thanksgiving (Phoenix to Denver). I need to put together a new "boonie box" for the new Excursion...what items do you think I need to include to help insure a smooth trip?
I think someone said that a spare intercooler hose is good to have, any other suggestions?
Sorry, my signature did not come through....

Thanks
I could just be me. I use the Mozilla browser and it does not support the floating signture feature on this site.
The spare hose is a good call, I guess.
I would just suggest a good thorough inspection prior to the trip. These trucks are fairly bulletproof and if something does go bad it usually ain't a "fix on the side of the road" deal.
Assuming the truck has been properly maintained, some fuel treatment and enjoy the trip. You never know the quality of the fuel stop, even when it is a truck stop.
AAA. Join them. You may never need them, but its cheap insurance in your pocket with all they offer. I'd pay for the deluxe membership just for its better towing. You can also get all the free map's you need for the trip and a trip planner.
Thanks for all the good info, I'm really looking forward to an awesome time.
Any input on snow chains? I'm not sure I'll need them but I have almost zero experience driving in snow...
