shift ****
The shift **** on my 95 F-150 won't stay on. It ends out in my hand. I have been putting paper in it to shim it up. Well, I guess I did it one too many times. The thing split in two.
Two questions, one is do you just tap a new on on? On other stick vehicles I had the shift ***** screw on. This one's splined. Also because it is splined, do I have to get a factory replacement or will an after market one work. Any recomendations on where to get one?

Ford still sells shift ***** and they just press on. Or you can buy aftermarket.
Ford's new shift ***** will not be the same style as the original.--but will work fine.
National Parts Depot sells them.

I went aftermarket, you know those cheap dark chrome skull shift *****.
If you properly shim up the stick so that the **** just fits onto it snug, then use thread-lock the little screws, it'll never come off (by accident).
Mine came off a few times before I properly did it up.
