Hey guys,
I have a problem with my mom's 1994 escort. Last year I replaced the blower motor resistor and everthing has worked great. Now she has no power going to the motor. I checked the fuse and it is good, I bench tested the blower and it is good and I checked the resistor and it is good. What is left to check? Is there a relay for the heat somewhere? there are two square plastic boxes located on the firewall, one is brown and one is grey, are these relays for the heating/cooliong system? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Theres a small fusable link on the resistor pack. Sometimes they blow out too. It looks like a small silver tube with wires coming out of either end. Should check OK with a continuity tester. Have you checked for voltage to ground at the motor plug?
I checked the resistor pack, OK. I checked for voltage at the motor and I don't have any. I'm thinking that the switch itself may have gone bad. I'll have to check it today.
Got it fixed, and just in time. Temps went into the 20's. The speed selector switch was shot. Got a new one at the junk yard for $8. All works great now.
